Not sure why this place only gets 3.5 stars out of 5. I'd put it at a solid 4 to 4.5. I had the rib/brisket combo and the sausage/ham appetizer.
Ribs were spot on absolutely no sauce needed. (The way it should be) smoke ring was great on the ribs and the had a bite to em but pulled clean. I found my self wanting more.
Brisket was tender and passed the fold and pull test but they did sauce them lightly. (I personally wished they hadn't) the brisket slices look to have come from the point versus the flat and were juicy. That said, I wished that the brisket had a little bark which is something that I look for in world class brisket. This is likely due to wrapping to feed the masses which we all know ruins the bark.
Sides were the beans and a mustard based slaw both of which were good. Beans had some nice pork chunks that enhanced the flavor.
I'd hit this place again next time I'm in town.
Atmosphere has a cool nostalgic feel and the wait staff was great. -

As usual this place is awesome. If you time it right, quick in and as always food is fast to come up.
Had the large order of ribs, YUM!! Love their dry rub. Baked beans were very tasty as well as their vinegar slaw.
This place is historic and holds their value and quality as always. Never go wrong when eating at Rendezvous!! -

My dad is from Memphis and talked this place up pretty big from when he was a kid. It was also my Grampa's favorite back in the 1970's. We were visiting from out of town.
Seems a bit more geared toward tourists now and the food quality has certainly taken a hit. Food came out crazy fast since the ribs are made quick. For the price there is better options for BBQ around Memphis. I did enjoy the Cole Slaw since it had a nice kick. -

3.5 Stars.
The Rendezvous is a legendary BBQ restaurant featured in many publications and shows. It is perhaps legendary for its longevity. Instead of using low wood heat and smoke to cook and flavor the meat The Rendezvous uses Charcoal. I am not a fan personally.
And while I liked the rub on the ribs I did not find the meat and cooking process that good. No snap and minimal smoke rings.
What I did enjoy was the brisket here. I guess charcoal cooking takes better to that. The brisket was juicy and succulent again great rub.
Pork shoulder was pretty good as well.
Great BBQ sauce...but some consider putting sauce on meat a sin...just saying
Sides were okay.
Ambiance is your typical divey Q place. -

I love Memphis BBQ. I love dry rubbed ribs. This is one of the more famous places in Memphis but I don't think it is the best in town.
The vibe of the place is great. A real throwback place which I love. The ribs tasted great...but, and I hate to say it, some of the ribs were dry (AKA over cooked).
If I was just rating the place for the ribs it would be 3 stars, which should not be the case for a place like this. The sides were great and the atmosphere is outstanding. That's the extra star.
